Arne Slot makes HISTORY with Liverpool feat unseen for over 30 years
Liverpool continued their excellent start to the season with a win over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Saturday.
The Reds emerged from the game as 1-0 victors despite the home side pushing them hard in the second half.
Injuries to Alexis Mac Allister and Alisson Becker were the main talking points after the match but Diogo Jota and Cody Gakpo deserve credit for combining for the only goal on their returns to the starting XI.
The win saw the Reds extend their lead at the top of the table, although potentially only temporarily, and also marked nine wins in 10 for Arne Slot as the Liverpool head coach.

Liverpool’s best start for 34 years
The win over Crystal Palace marks only the third time that a Liverpool side has won nine of their opening 10 matches in a season, with the previous campaign this was achieved in being the 1990-91 season.
The only other time that the Reds achieved this feat was in the 1961-62 season when they won the second division.

The last time Liverpool managed nine wins from their first 10 in 1990 they finished runners up in the league, seven points behind champions Arsenal.
As well as carrying Liverpool to the top of the Premier League table this run has seen them progress to the next round of the Carabao Cup with a 5-1 win over West Ham.
Liverpool are also one of only seven teams to have won their opening two matches in the new ‘league phase’ of the UEFA Champions League.
Where do Liverpool go from here?
Although currently facing a few injuries, Slot will have had over two weeks to prepare for Liverpool’s next match against Chelsea, and he will hope that some of the Reds’ injury issues subside in that time.
Liverpool have a very tough run coming up which includes a visit to the Emirates to take on Arsenal and ends with games against Real Madrid, Manchester City, Newcastle and Everton all in the space of 10 days.
It is over this run that Slot will truly have to prove himself following Liverpool’s best start to a season of the Premier League era.
Liverpool supporters will be willing their key players back as soon as possible and hope that the Reds can go one better than they did in 1991 and win the league title.
