Fabrizio Romano update on Trent
With a mere eight months left on his current deal with Liverpool, Trent Alexander-Arnold has persistently been linked with Real Madrid – and Fabrizio Romano has the latest information.
It’s no secret that Alexander-Arnold is a key target for Real Madrid given their propensity for signing superstars on dwindling contracts, with Kylian Mbappe being the latest example in a long list.
Indeed, 25 years ago the same was true of Steve McManaman, and there are worrying parallels with the ongoing situation.
In his latest update on his YouTube channel, Fabrizio Romano said: “What I’m told is that today, Real Madrid are not negotiating with Alexander-Arnold – they are not discussing terms of a contract, salary, or project.”

Landmark FIFA decision revolutionises player transfers

Lassana Diarra
Following a long-running legal dispute with FIFA, former Chelsea and Arsenal player Lassana Diarra has won a landmark decision after his case was victorious in the European Court of Justice (ECJ).
The ECJ found that Diarra was right to challenge his wrongful contract termination at Lokomotiv Moscow in 2014 – a decision that could drastically revolutionise how transfers are conducted across Europe.
After leaving the Russian club, Diarra then agreed to join Belgian club Charleroi, although FIFA refused to issue the club with an International Transfer Certificate (ITC), which is an essential part of registering a newly signed player, so the move collapsed.
This tactic from FIFA, was today agreed to have been illegal – breaching the EU’s freedom of movement and competition law – a substantial victory for Diarra’s legal team, but a decision which will now result in significantly relaxed conditions surrounding player power in the transfer market.

Liverpool’s opportunity to get one over Man United and Everton
Liverpool are thriving under new head coach Arne Slot and the Reds now have the chance to get one over on two of their biggest rivals.
Despite opening the season with a remarkable amount of defensive stability, the Reds may be looking at ensuring their defensive strength continues long into the future with the addition of a new centre-back.
Recent reports suggest that Liverpool have reignited their interest in long-term target Jarrad Branthwaite and that they could make a move for the Everton star in January.
Branthwaite is widely regarded as one of Everton’s best players, and while it would wind the Toffees up to no end to see their star man playing for Liverpool, the 22-year-old has also been the subject of heavy interest from Manchester United.
