Houston Dash re-sign forward Avery Patterson
(Dec. 5, 2024) Rookie forward Avery Patterson has re-signed with the Houston Dash on a three-year contract, through the 2027 NWSL season. Patterson featured in 23 matches, recording one goal and two assists.
Chicago Red Stars sign midfielder Maitane López

(Dec. 5, 2024) Spanish midfielder Maitane López has signed a two-year contract with the Chicago Red Stars. López joined Gotham FC in 2023 after a two-year stint with Atletico Madrid in her native Spain. She also spent time in her career with Collerense, Levante and Real Sociedad. With the Spanish women’s national team, López has two senior caps.
Seattle Reign sign defender Madison Curry

(Dec. 4, 2024) Madison Curry signed a three-year contract with the Seattle Reign, through the 2027 NWSL season. Curry was selected in the fourth round of the 2024 NWSL Draft, and featured in 22 matches and recorded one assist. She logged over 1,500 league minutes. Curry was a free-agent signing for the Reign.
Angel City re-signs goalkeeper Hannah Stambaugh

(Dec. 4, 2024) Hannah Stambaugh has re-signed with Angel City FC for the 2025 NWSL season. A native of Tokyo, Japan, Stambaugh featured for Omiya Ardija Ventus for three seasons until joining Angel City. While she didn’t make an official league appearance last year, Stambaugh did start in goal in a friendly against Liga MX Femenil side FC Juarez in August.
Houston Dash sign midfielder Delanie Sheehan
(Dec. 4, 2024) Delanie Sheehan has signed a two-year contract with the Houston Dash with a mutual option for the 2027 NWSL season. She was a free agent who had been with NJ/NY Gotham FC since being drafted there in 2021. Sheehan was an important member of Gotham’s 2023 championship team and she started in 24 games in 2024, logging over 2,000 minutes.
INSIGHT: Sheehan is a bigger loss than you might think for Gotham. The obvious question to ask is: Why leave a championship contender for the last-place team in the NWSL, a place with no general manager or head coach and a team that has been an unmitigated disaster this year? The answer is surely more detailed than this, but sources tell EQZ that Sheehan got a major pay raise — exponentially more than her prior Gotham deal that significantly underpaid her. — Jeff Kassouf

I’m Thomas Clark, from the ever-sunny Scottsdale, Arizona. At 47, my life’s not your usual nine-to-five grind; I’m the voice behind the screen at FC Soccer News. My days are a mix of passion and professionalism as I weave words for the love of the game. University of Arizona’s where I honed my skills, but the real education came from the hours spent in local cafes, my eyes glued to my laptop, and my mind playing the field.
Soccer’s not just my beat—it’s the rhythm to my life. I analyze plays with a tactical mind and share insights that cut through the noise. Outside work, my appetite for adventure is as strong as a striker’s kick. The chef in me loves experimenting in the kitchen, and when the hiking trails call my name, I answer with boots laced tight. I’ve got music in my bones, and you’ll often find me lost in the melodies of a well-strummed guitar.
Away from the adrenaline of sports and the hum of daily life, my world orbits around my family. Dinner tables are our huddles, where laughter and stories bounce around like a well-played ball. Weekends are sacred—reserved for family bike rides and movie marathons, where I pass down my love for classics to my two bright kids. Parenthood’s more rewarding than any byline, and it’s taught me the true value of teamwork. My wife is my rock, my steady defender, offering unwavering support through every deadline and draft. Together, we’ve built a life that’s as dynamic as the games I cover—a blend of commitment, joy, and the unending chase of a story worth telling.
