Party time as Liverpool loan star funds day out for team-mates
On-loan Liverpool midfielder Stefan Bajcetic has been fined by RB Salzburg. His teammates are thrilled with it.
Salzburg24 reports that Stefan Bajcetic has been fined by RB Salzburg. The problem? He couldn’t find his boots on Monday and ended up late for training.
That’s an automatic fine, albeit a relatively small one for a UEFA Champions League player. The mistake costs Bajcetic €500 – due before the next game.

The report makes it clear that Pep Lijnders enforced the fine with a smile on his face. It’s about keeping players consistent and disciplined, after all – not actually punishing them for small mistakes.
But one group that’s thrilled with the fine is Bajcetic’s teammates. All the fines go into a pot, after all, that’s then used to pay for a group trip. The Spaniard’s error goes towards them all getting a nice getaway.
Stefan Bajcetic at RB Salzburg
It’s been an interesting start to the season for Salzburg. They’ve got a new manager in Lijnders, fresh from the Liverpool dugout. They then supported him with Bajcetic and Bobby Clark, the latter arriving from Anfield permanently.
Things started strongly, too, only for the recent form to fall off a cliff. A 3-0 defeat to Sparta Prague was disastrous for Salzburg, and they’re suddenly struggling to find consistent form in the Bundesliga.
But perhaps they’ve turned it around. A 2-0 win over Austrian Wien this weekend followed a 4-0 cup win and it feels a little like Lijnders might have his side clicking again.
It promises to be an intriguing campaign even for Liverpool fans to keep an eye on. The former assistant – once strongly linked with the top job – as well as Bajcetic. Everyone’s still hoping he can return and stake a claim in midfield, after all.
Liverpool still have big plans for him – and we’ll cross our fingers that they come to fruition.
