Revealed: How Liverpool BEAT Man Utd to secure sensational summer signing
Despite a fairly inactive summer transfer window at Liverpool, one acquisition has sent shockwaves through the academy community across the country.
The signing of 16-year-old sensation Rio Ngumoha sees the Reds confident that they have secured the services of one of England’s most exciting prospects.
Ngumoha moved to Merseyside following his departure from Chelsea for a compensation fee that is yet to be decided.

It didn’t take long for the winger to create a buzz amongst the Liverpool faithful with his fifteen-minute cameo against Blackburn Rovers on his debut, 10 days ago.
Cries of “hit him” from the Blue and Whites’ defence came as a result of seeing the pace and trickery Ngumoha possesses in abundance.
The youngster has since had his first outing in European action after being brought off the bench in Liverpool U19s’ UEFA Youth League stalemate with AC Milan last week, before registering his first assist for the U18s in a 2-2 draw against Leeds United.
United fall short to Liverpool once more
It comes as no surprise that someone with so much talent at such a tender age had attracted interest from numerous elite clubs and that Liverpool would have to overcome fierce competition for Ngumoha’s signature.
According to The Athletic, the winger had attracted interest from as young as eight years old, where he toured top-level clubs before deciding on Chelsea.
Liverpool, Everton and Manchester City were amongst the teams who Ngumoha spent time with before opting for the London side.
Fast forward to this summer, Ngumoha’s decision to leave Chelsea due to doubts over his pathway to the first-team saw the Reds and arch-rivals Manchester United in hot pursuit for the talented forward.
The report outlines that Ngumoha spent time at United this summer listening to the plans they had for him if he decided on a move to Manchester.
Despite their efforts to lure the 16-year-old, they felt they were already behind Liverpool in the race for him and eventually conceded defeat.
Michael Edwards’ success continues
The signing of Ngumoha may not be a huge hit in the mainstream media, but it’s made a big impact throughout the academy community and Michael Edwards is believed to be at the heart of the move.
The FSG CEO had success with numerous young talents he brought to Anfield as sporting director, whether that’s becoming first-team regulars or off-loading them when they’re ready for first-team football at hefty prices.
Liverpool fans will be hoping that if Ngumoha lives up to the hype and cracks into the first squad, displaying the calibre of play many believe he can achieve, their victory over United will feel even sweeter in years to come.
