Liverpool Transfer News Today: Liverpool dealt BLOW and Inter star confirms INTEREST
Here’s our round-up of all the latest Liverpool transfer news today (Tuesday 15 October) as Liverpool are dealt huge blow in transfer pursuit.
Slot sends contract message
Liverpool head coach Arne Slot has not-so-subtly REMINDED his bosses that three of the best Champions League players of all time have contracts with the club which are about to expire.
The Dutchman was asked to name his best Champions League winners XI for Amazon Prime Video Sport recently and opted to include FOUR of his current Liverpool stable as well as another club legend in the shape of Steven Gerrard.
Goalkeeper Alisson Becker, a veteran of Liverpool’s Champions League victory is in along with the aforementioned trio of Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk.
It appears that Slot has taken an opportunity to lay the groundwork for three players he is desperate to keep at the club ahead of their imminent contract expirations.

Liverpool blow golden chance
Liverpool’s attempt to bolster its already deadly attack has come under threat.
Arne Slot’s side have adapted well to the new regime and currently sit top of the Premier League table, scoring 22 goals in their opening 10 games in all competitions.
However, a crucial part of the success is Mohamed Salah who is out of contract next summer. Should the Egyptian leave at the end of his contract, the Reds are on high alert for talent to add to their squad.
However, one potential addition has attracted more interest from elsewhere.

Inter star confirms interest
Liverpool’s 4-1 defeat by Napoli at the Stadio Diego Armando Marando back in September 2022 won’t be remembered too fondly by Reds, for good reason.
Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa and Giovanni Simeone were joined in the demolition of Jurgen Klopp’s men by two Piotr Zielinski goals that day.
But it could have all been so different.
Zielinski has revealed in an interview with Foot Truck that he once went to Jurgen Klopp’s house to discuss a possible transfer to Liverpool back when the Polish star was still at Udinese.

Henderson eyes up boyhood club return
Jordan Henderson’s career hasn’t exactly gone upwards after his departure from Liverpool.
After 12 years and 492 games on Merseyside, the former captain headed for the wealth and sun of Saudi Arabia. He signed for Dammam-based Al-Ettifaq in the summer of 2023, joining up with Liverpool icon Steven Gerrard who remains manager for the club.
Henderson, however, played exactly 19 games for Al-Ettifaq before having his contract terminated and instead signing for Dutch giants Ajax. Whilst a stint at one of the true historic clubs of European football is more respectable, Henderson still completely lost his place in the England squad.

Klopp could strengthen United
When it was announced last week that Jurgen Klopp was set to become Red Bull’s Global Head of Soccer, little attention was paid to the idea of him helping Liverpool’s direct rivals.
It’s understandable that the fanfare was around the legendary coach returning to football in general, as well as the moral conundrum of him joining the Red Bull group.
But between Klopp and his former assistant Pep Lijnders, who is having a torrid time as head coach of Red Bull Salzburg at current, Liverpool are now inextricably linked to the organisation.
And because of this, the report by TEAMtalk that Manchester United are interested in signing Salzburg right-back Amar Dedic in January leaves a bit of a bitter taste in the mouth of Reds.

My days are a mix of passion and professionalism as I weave words for the love of the game. University of Arizona’s where I honed my skills, but the real education came from the hours spent in local cafes, my eyes glued to my laptop, and my mind playing the field.
